Resin Bound vs Resin Bonded
Although almost identical in name, resin bound and resin bonded are actually very different. Our services are in resin bound, we do not recommend resin bonded products.
Resin Bound
What we do
This method mixes natural aggregate, marble or recycled materials and clear resin together. During the process, each piece of stone is covered in resin and laid onto a base, which results in a smooth permeable finish. The finished depth of a resin bound paving surface is between 12mm and 24mm – dependant on the size and type of stone used and the application (e.g. driveway).
Using a resin bound paving system allows for different sizes and colours of stone, offering a wide variety of finishes.
Permeable
Smooth surface
Long lasting
No loose stone
Eco friendly
A resin bound system delivers a durable, permeable, accessible, multi-layer surface. The finish is smooth and there is no loose stone – guaranteed.
Resin Bonded
What we don't do
This method involves applying a layer of resin to the surface, on top of which clean, dry aggregate is applied; completely covering the resin. Once cured, any excess stone is swept up. The size of stone used in the resin bonded system ranges from 1mm to 6mm. The thin, impermeable, single stone layer tends to have a rougher more textured finish.
